Liguria quadrangle

The Liguria quadrangle (H-4) runs from 270 to 180° longitude and 20 to 70° latitude on Mercury. Only a thin strip of its territory along the eastern border with Shakespeare quadrangle was illuminated when Mariner 10 made its three flybys of the planet and so it was not mapped in detail until it was visited by MESSENGER decades later. It is named after the Liguria albedo feature.

Caloris Basin is centered in Liguria, though it overlaps significantly with the Tolstoj and Shakespeare quadrangles.
